Sarah Brightman, born in 1960, began her career as a member of Hot Gossip, Arlene Phillips' dance troupe, in 1977. The group's 1978 disco hit I lost my heart to a starship trooper reached number 6 in the UK charts. Sarah Brightman later embarked on her theatre career in 1981 with her West End debut in Andrew Lloyd Webber's new musical Cats, where she played the role of Jemima. Sarah Brightman and Andrew Lloyd Webber married in 1984, and she starred in several of the composer's musicals.
