However, due to the stadium's location on the banks of the River Manzanares, it meant that expansion was not possible. Therefore the club's new home is located further out of the city and will have an increased capacity of nearly 68,000. The Vicente Calderon had a reputation for being an incredibly difficult place to play and get a result, only time will tell of the Wanda Metropolitano becomes a similar fortress.
