From rom-coms to talent shows
Born in Jakarta in 1989, Afgansyah Reza first caught attention in 2008 with debut album "Confession No.1, " a largely self-penned affair which effortlessly combined R&B, pop and jazz. A year later he was crowned Best Solo Male Vocalist at the Anugerah Musik Indonesia Awards and made his acting debut in "Bukan Cinta Biasa, " a romantic comedy for which he also contributed to the soundtrack. Afgan continued to flit between the worlds of music and cinema throughout the next decade. In 2010 he released his sophomore album "The One ", his 2013 album "L1ve to Love, Love to L1ve " featured a collaboration with The Voice Indonesia judge Sherina, while Yura Yunita, Rayi Putra and SonaOne were just some of the artists who guested on his fourth LP, "Sides ", released in 2016. Afgan also sang the lead role "Alfa " in the 2010’s movie "Cinta 2 Hati " and "Nata " in 2013’s "Refrain ", before making the move to the small screen in 2015 as a judge on "The X Factor Indonesia.
