50 Cent background
50 Cent was born Curtis Jackson on July 6, 1975, in Queens, New York City. To say his childhood was difficult would be something of an understatement, and he got involved in drug dealing at a young age. After a 6-month period in 'boot camp', he adopted the nickname 50 Cent as a metaphor for change. He started rapping in the late 90s and was soon signed to Columbia Records, starting his journey to become the star he is today. In 2000, however, 50 Cent was shot nine times in a drive-by shooting. He survived, miraculously, but his rap career was put on hold and he returned to the underground scene where he earned a solid reputation on the streets of NYC. Eminem was one of the people drawn to 50 Cent and, in 2002, Eminem signed him up to Interscope records. 2003 saw the release of Get Rich or Die Tryin' which rose to the top of music charts worldwide. Now, fifteen years later, 50 Cent's legacy and impact is clear. Another thing that is clear, a 50 Cent live concert is not something to be missed. So, if you get the opportunity to see Curtis Jackson live at one of his shows, don't pass up the opportunity. Buy 50 Cent tickets now.
